Pros

Over the nearly year and a half I was at MFour, I saw incredible growth of a company, of leaders, and of employees. The amount of learning and innovation that was happening were truly astonishing. I'm a fan. Chris and Jeff are really the heart and soul of the company and lead with zeal. The company I joined had little in the way of technology best practices or standards and has been moving quickly to that end. If they keep it up, they will truly become a technology company. Fantastic leadership talent was hired, from a new COO in the beginning of 2017 to a new CFO and a CRO later in the year. I would gladly work with the founders or any of these guys again in the future. Contrary to some of the other reviews complaining about process, I'm glad that processes were created. Running a 20-person and a 100-person company are whole different animals. Processes are a necessary part of that. The processes created were lightweight and highly adaptable compared to most other companies.

Cons

MFour is undergoing pretty standard 70-100 person startup turmoil. They're taking all the right steps to getting over the hump though. There is some dead weight that needs to be cut and maybe a little too much apprehension to just letting these people go.

Not what it seems

Pros

- Nice/new office - People are generally friendly

Cons

- Portrays a startup culture, easy going mentality. In reality, they are no different than a typical life-sucking corporate entity. - Employees are NOT judged by the quality of their work. Perception and politics rule. - Lots of nepotism, very incestuous. All the C levels came from the same company, thus, all have each other's backs no matter what. - Lots of favoritism. - Very clique-ish - Backstabbing and gossip. Expect to be thrown under the bus at some point for any reason. - Benefits are terrible. 1-week vacation? - They preach innovation but there's little to no opportunity to do so. - Culture of meetings. There are meetings to talk about other meetings, etc. - We're being told to dominate the market research industry, but in reality, C levels and upper management lack market research industry knowledge. - New workflow processes and products put in place don't really make sense from a user's perspective. - Upper management tracks your online search history, and what time you arrive and leave. - Pay is VERY substandard. - Future investor support is questionable. Only 5M capital procured last year, which was wasted on a satellite office that no one hears about, and trivial things like 3 big holographic screens. - 0 to 2.5% raise without annual review is professionally insulting. - Witnessed upper management yelling and cursing inappropriately at employees. - Bosses are just task managers, not mentors, and definitely, don't have your best interests in mind. - No opportunity to learn new skills. People who will teach have no time or aren't allowed due to adherence to processes. - No upward mobility. The only promotions are the upper management promoting themselves with loftier titles. - Just not a good place to work whatsoever. Lots of negative energy. If you're not a lifer or the boss' favorite, the snacks and good vibes from fellow employees only last so long. The job market is pretty good right now, you should definitely look elsewhere.

Opportunity for Growth

Pros

- lots of lateral movement in the company - work life balance started to get better in 2017

Cons

- not enough transparency with how bonuses are calculated - extremely high turnover - started with 1 per month when I came (unknown) now it is 2.5 per month (from 2017 - 2018) - management wants to hear what it likes to hear - opportunity for skill growth and challenges very minimal - conveyor belt roles - it takes a lot of exits for management to turn heads - with better work life balance comes decline in mentally motivating roles and challenges - was injected $5 million in 2017 and spent it too fast - growth and scaling was all dependent on the thoughts of those with strongest diplomatic voice/authority and therefore such an unfortunate waste. - now looking for $3 million injection for 2018
