Pros
The Lab promotes collaboration and supports staff in learning new skills. Co-workers are smart and helpful. It is an excellent place to work if you have outside hobbies or a family, because of the 9-5 culture. The Laboratory has done a good job pivoting to remote working during the pandemic.
Cons
Organizational culture is outdated. Overwhelming majority of the management has been at MIT Lincoln Laboratory for their entire careers. Most senior management has been there for 25 years+, and they are not keen to change the way the Laboratory does things. For women in particular, I would suggest coming with a PhD, because without one- your career will progress slowly. If you don't view power point as a fundamental mechanism for communication, it may not be the place for you.
