Pros

Great environment for educators, engineers, scholars, scientists, and administrators. Competitive salaries, great benefits, great colleagues driven to explore and support original ideas. Diverse workforce across every dimension, including age.

Cons

Demanding workload (though not extreme), clear hierarchy dominated by PhDs, lack of transparency in management decisions.

Pros

World class research environment, friendly and incredibly bright people. Intellectually stimulating work which can lead to great things. Flexible working hours.

Cons

High expectations and low salary (just like in any grad school program). First two years will be busy taking classes - may be a pro for some.

Pros

Community is friendly, flexible schedule (dependent on supervisor), collaborative environment.

Cons

Commute can be long (so much construction around MIT), work distribution is not equal and salary does not reflect how hard/competent someone actually is. Also, sometimes the technology/tools available are not available.
