Pros

Interesting Projects, Knowledgeable Employees. There are some people that work here that are very knowledgeable about automotive engineering and are very helpful. Other engineers in the department were very supportive and helpful. Very good group of people with lots of combined experience.

Cons

I left a job that I was very dissatisfied with to join MSI but realized within a few hours on my very first day that I may have not made the best decision. Almost immediately I heard snickering comments about how long I would last, that the engineering department was a revolving door and had very high turnover. I also saw that they have almost no revision control of their drawings and documents, which a previous employee has also mentioned in their review. Updating previous designs or drawings was a nightmare. Anyone in engineering knows that manually controlling documents through file folders does not work well and leads to a lot of mistakes and wasted time. They refused to change this while I was there. My manager that hired me was let go after a few months, it was at this point that everything really went downhill even though I liked working there up to that point. No conceptual design meetings, no schedules, no planning of any kind whatsoever anymore, there was no way to tell when your work was due until someone demanded it from you. Morale seemed to plummet. No one seemed to think that the company was financially stable and said they were depressed they were working there. Which brings me to something that I hate to bring up but I think people should know if they consider working at MSI. There is zero workplace diversity. I believe there was one black person that worked there and was laid off shortly after I started. I also heard a few off color and horribly insensitive racially charged statements about BLM, people of color and anyone that isn't a republican. I will say that I know that there are people there that are vehemently against this type of behavior but when your entire staff is one color, what can you really expect. They need to rectify this. This company has some very capable people that can accomplish amazing things but are hamstringed by constantly being overworked, mismanaged and treated like expendable assets by the owners. I felt a lot of pride about what work I did while I was there and the people in our military we were serving but it was undermined by all the above.

Pros

The job had interesting projects.

Cons

-Pretty poor benefits. -You'll work tons of extra time as a salary employee without compensation in bonuses nor time off. If bonuses do come out they are far out weighed by the hundreds of hours of overtime spent. -The engineering department is a revolving door, out of a about two dozen guys there less than handful were left after a year. -Ownership doesn't care about you, just about making money and keeping their contracts happy. The employee is just a pawn. For this reason, ownership and the business will do just fine.
