Pros

The only pro I have to share is the compensation. The pay is very competitive for the industry (but still not the best. Don’t settle)

Cons

The management in this company (I worked in the GA location) is criminally negligent when it comes to their employees. Any concern that they show for anyone is performative for awards and reviews. They continuously ask employees to do tasks that can be considered shady or completely out of line with MSI policies in order to get what they want, but once they get what they want you WILL be reprimanded for breaking policies. If someone is threatening you mentally or physically and you bring it to management you will be told that you are overreacting and that you need to be quiet and quit causing a scene. Don’t even think about going to HR because she is good friends with the office manager and they will work together to spin a story that makes you look as if you are incompetent and that no one ever actually threatened you. They’ll make you sorry you tried to stand up for yourself. Sales Representatives are allowed to do however little they want, make TikTok’s in the gym, or hang out at home while they make you do all of their work for them. This company wields fear and anger as weapons in order to make sure all of their employees stay in line. Also, if someone brings in a machine gun, instead of keeping employees safe behind locked doors, HR will take everyone outside and then stand behind them using them as human shields because she doesn’t actually know the policies she swears by. There is no chance of advancement unless you’re a man willing to sell your soul and step on the throats of the people trying to help you.

Pros

Learning Environment: The current state of codebase offers a unique learning experience on the importance of code quality and maintainability, providing practical lessons on what not to do in software development. Job Stability: The company provides a stable work environment with experienced, though not knowledgeable, professionals who have been with the company for a long time. Working on Improvements: The company is becoming aware of the issues related to code quality and knowledge gaps and is actively working on addressing these concerns, which presents an opportunity for employees to contribute to meaningful improvements.

Cons

Knowledge Gaps in Basic Concepts: Despite their experience, the developer leads lack knowledge of some fundamental software development concepts, which can hinder project maintainability, and extensibility. Poor Code Quality Standards: There are very low, if any, standards for code quality, leading to poorly structured and difficult-to-maintain project files with tens of thousands of lines of code. Maintenance Challenges: The lack of code quality standards results in significant maintenance challenges, making it harder to manage and update projects efficiently. Limited Growth in Best Practices: The environment is not conducive to applying modern software development best practices, which can limit professional growth and skill advancement. Potential for Technical Debt: The absence of robust code quality practices leads to the accumulation of technical debt, which slows down future development and increases the risk of bugs and system failures.

Poor leadership and management. Blame workers most of the time for how the place looks.
