Pros

Work/life balance - I'm able to take PTO without issue, we have the ability to work from home when need, after hours calls are not frequent. Management - I cant speak for all the departments, but my leadership team is good. My direct manager is knowledgeable, fair, and is a great escalation point. Same goes for my senior manager. Professional development - The company pays for skillport which has technical training lessons and books for a ton of subjects, partial tuition and certification reimbursement, and they pay for specialized training and conferences on a case by case basis. The best part is the pay raises for every approved and completed certification, why more people dont take advantage of that I dont know. Co workers - The people are friendly, overall I havent ran into any toxic people in IT or at least they havent behaved that way towards me so thats a plus. Benefits - the 401k is slightly below average I believe the match is 4%, but you are vested immediately so thats nice, and they have programs to offset healthcare cost Pretty good place to work, it's not perfect, but not bad.

Cons

Work/life balance - on call 24/7 and weekly late night changes. To be fair this is the norm in IT though. Management - Although my management is good, I hear complaints of other departments being overly stressed by their leadership. Professional development - Although the company has a reimbursement program there are a lot of hoops to jump through, and the reimbursement is not 100% Co workers - The office is WAY too quiet, you would think with an open air office and a ton of people you would hear more noise. It seriously drives me crazy Benefits - The healthcare premiums are really expensive, they company has programs in place to try and offset some of the costs but it's still pricey.

Pros

Pay is really good for entry level positions, considering you don't have to have a degree. They offer work from home in some offices. They do a lot for local communities as well as lots of little things throughout the year for the employees. It's good honest work, and for the most part, ypu work with good people. Lots of advancement opportunities.

Cons

Training on their GMR program is a joke- No one stays on the same page so a lot of bad info is given to clients. Even floor supervisors don't care- they pretty much dont care and tend to pass the buck. A lot of backbiting like what you would expect in high school. The TX call center is frankly a joke- they don't really enforce contracted protocol to avoid potential complaints to the state. Difficult to request time off- And if you have to leave to go to the ER, they will still hold it against you- unless you are admitted overnight. I've seen people wheeled out on stretchers- and they were still penalized. They had implemented a 'badge program'- learn another departments functions (voluntarily), and you would receive a monetary bonus, either one time or pay raise. I put in my request, was told itd be submitted, only to follow up a month or so later and be told that the program was cancelled due to lack of interest. They never told anyone. Health insurance is not worth it.
