Toxic and Controlled by Sydney

Pros

High pay that is dangled like a carrot to attract unsuspecting employees. Only work here if you are desperate and need a job, but then immediately search for another company. The company spends a lot of money remodeling their offices to make them nice and attract unsuspecting customers.

Cons

Work from home only 2 times a week and that is very inconvenient if you live far from downtown because traffic is horrible. Plus, I45 construction about to begin for several years and that will make access more complicated. Management pretends to listen, but then doesn't communicate. You get work assignments from Microsoft teams chats; for example, and expectations are not clearly communicated by leadership. Then, you get blamed when things go poorly due to broken processes and company red tape. Only people who are favorable with management get promoted so this place is more political than most companies that I have worked for. Rotational layoffs so recession proof to a point. I don't think they will be successful in the long-term because their direction is from Sydney headquarters and their management is out of touch with the work culture and what is going on in America.

Pros

More relaxed and laid back working environment, not crazy hours, good perks for free breakfast, beverages, coffee, etc Don't really have the smartest people to work with - if you are a junior person who wants to learn new stuff, probably not the best place to start

Cons

Very Australian - I worked in their New York office, and it is filled with native Australians. It seems like all Australians want to come to work in their New York office and not go back, and Americans just can't really get promoted within the firm.

Pros

Following up on previous review.

Cons

I left a review on Glassdoor to which Macquarie responded to and told me to get in touch. I emailed the email address they responded with and never received a response. They want to look good to the public but don't actually care about bettering the company.
