Pros

Opportunity to advance if you're willing to play politics.

Cons

Nepotism is rampant. More layers of management than an onion. Projects that never end but don't have funding. No separation of jobs. 24/7 work culture. This is mostly due to contractors and offshore teams flooding the space and lack of skilled support teams. Micromanagement, managers would directly tell employees to do work a certain way. Managers will receive training on subjects that employees are expected to work on. No reward or bonus for going the extra mile ( Awards merit additional 10% employee discount). Terrible benefits for an IT shop. Loud work environment ( Project managers hosting meetings or calls in cubicles ). "Summer Hours" allow employees to leave early on Fridays... If your management approves. Inflation level or lower merit increases. Make you pay for k-cups. Do I need to continue?

Pros

There are so many people who have worked at Macy's all of their life...and there are so many people who are short timers. I love the store and their products. There can be room for growth and development.

Cons

The reason why there are so many "lifers" at Macy's is because Macy's store Managers continue to dangle the carrot and before they know it, years have gone by at their dead-end job, and they are afraid to leave because they don't know what to do. They have invested, time and money while losing time with friends and family. Most of the people who have worked at Macy's for a very long time hate what they are doing. You can work there for over 25 years as a Manager and drop you for no good reason. Basically the company, lacks loyalty.
