Pros

Some colleagues such as store managers and district vice presidents are the smartest retailers in the country. The workload is very reasonable given the level of pay.

Cons

The culture is one of bitter lifers, lying, backstabbing, ass kissing, CYA, and throwing everyone under the bus. The so called training programs are a joke. You will never get ahead in executive ranks if you were not born in this country. Promotions are based on who you know and not what you know.

Pros

easy to get hired, I cannot think in another reason of why you should work in this place. if you go to school this is a great place to make some money since they have a lot of jobs that can adjust to your schedule.

Cons

Poor salary, disrespectful managers. They don't care about you, they just want to look good for their superiors. This place could be the worst place to spend your life working. There is some managers that will make your life miserable because they don't have a life. They don't even care if you get paid correctly or not. they just want you to work and that's it.

Pros

One of the pros is that Macys pays weekly and not biweekly. However, the cons cancel this out. The pay is ok. I started off making 8.00 an hour, not minimum wage. The managers all seem nice until they make their rounds and send everybody home early because too many people were scheduled. The hour lunch breaks are nice, but you may want to cut them short because you wont get any hours. As you can see all the pros have downsides.

Cons

I was never actually trained to do anything. Ive been working there for about a month and I still dont know how to use the register. Im not sure I want to since I dont want to sell Macys cards anyway. 30% interest and you have to meet a quota, and thats not to mention your sales goal! The only thing I know how to do is recover. It seems that everyone I talk to is hired to be on call. Honestly, I think they hired way too many of us so none of us get hours. Ive been to work a total of 5 times. I work about 8 hours a week. And the 8 hours I do work are horrible. Macys does have a website that allows you to pick your hours, but there isnt a plethora of options. Youre lucky if you get one open slot. Thereore, most of the time I get stuck with the weekend 1-10 shift. Who wants to work that? Also I usually get scheduled to work on Saturday and since payday is Friday, I have to wait a whole week to get paid. Also, our mall closes at 9 on Saturdays. Macys stays open until 10. Its annoying that were the only store still open. Also, Ive never worked in the same place twice. Im always put into different departments. Everyday is like my first day. I dont understand how Im supposed to help customer that way. Ugh. Point blank, you will get no hours and the hours you do get suck. You would think working at Macys would be this great experience, but thats not the case. Only work there if youre DESPERATE!
