Don't be fooled by their values

Pros

The people get a 5 star review from me! I had an amazing experience getting to know the people at Madison Reed. I felt a really special connection with almost everyone I worked with. Everyone worked so hard for the mission and it was inspiring to be part of that.

Cons

- The VPs, C-levels hire their friends. It has nothing to do with skill and capability. It's all about the connections you had and not about your resume. - They spend so much on fruitless endeavors and then put the pressure on the employees to make up for lost money and time. - Turnover is high. No one at this company, especially in the marketing department seem to last longer than 1 year. They either get forced out, laid off, or they leave because the culture is toxic. I had 3 supervisors in the period of 9 months. - Underpaid and undervalued. They hire people in at way too low of salary and blame their recruiting software for the ranges they come up with. It's disappointing that a company that expects so much from their employees would undervalue people this much.

The F word

Pros

Reasonable pay. Remote work. Lots of smart and talented people.

Cons

The F word.... family. You know that when a company uses that word they're manipulating you into working really hard... yet what family that you'd WANT to be part of can dump you? Treat you as expendable? You can get incredible performance reviews and be shown the door a week later. There's a lot of backstabbing and bullying, gossip, and nepotism. Some upper level management are untouchable because they're family friends, yet chaotic and under qualified. Everyone at the VP and above level is engaged in vicious competition with each other, and there's constant fear of leadership, and despite saying they value transparency, you cannot speak up without harsh retribution. "Responsible time off" policy actually means 3 weeks and people constantly watch each other's use of time off, leading to fear and people not taking time off.

Best culture I've ever worked in

Pros

Company values are very important and genuinely followed by leadership. This company is a clear category disruptor and leader. Marketing investments in growth are measured and thoughtful. Get a lot of opportunity to learn new things.

Cons

Fast paced so the best laid plans can sometimes feel secondary to rush projects. Later stage 'startup' so budgets are scrutinized and profitability is prioritized. Fully remote team with limited exposure to people in-person which makes it very hard to build relationships.
