Politics and power struggles before product

Pros

Potential: exciting product concept, hyped company / unicorn, etc. Interesting mix of hardware, software and creative talent abound. Florida is a nice place to be (beaches, etc.).

Cons

Unprofessional, toxic, antagonistic and, at times, hostile environment/culture that is propagated from the top-down. Not female, minority or LGBT friendly. Management attacks ideas, information sharing and collaboration across groups. Terrible work-life balance, long hours, unpredictable, constant fire drills, unnecessarily stressful, etc. largely due to a lack of open communication and inability to plan. Litigious company with a prohibitive noncompete (in FL).

Pros

The initial vision and courage to make the product that will lead the next tech trend thrills many of its early engineers to love and be passionate about it. The executive board has the capability of raising funds within the last few economic booming years, which keeps the company survive till today.

Cons

Extreme politics and depressive office vibe since its massive team expansion. Some managers fail to treat everyone fairly or keep motivating their talents. Compensation is considerably low compared to average. How can one expect a tech company like this to thrive for always?

Pros

Great company, benefits, culture, smart people, good pay, lots of interesting projects.

Cons

Good engineers keep leaving because there's too much disconnection between teams. Bad management has led to good people getting fired for obscure reasons, favoritism can play an important role on this as well. Attracting good talent to Florida it's been a hard task and therefore toxic people are getting hired supply the fast growing of the company.
