Do NOT Work Here

Pros

Free lunch, free insurance, good middle management

Cons

The integrity of this company is in the absolute gutter. Upper management is completely unaware of what anyone below them does. Crazy favoritism, people promoting their friends. The company is lying through their teeth about the reason for the most recent layoffs. They have spent the past few years with their head in the sand pretending everything is ok when it definitely is not. Has no money, no prospects, and no honestly left

Pros

Fun coworkers Lots of internal parties and events Great office space Delicious lunches

Cons

They've been the "cool kids on the block" for so long, that they assume all great things are their intrinsic credit and all negative things must be the fault of the complainer. Instead of looking at criticism and feedback with a big picture view, they usually resort to assuming that person is just prone to complain. The problem really enters the arena when large masses of employees are citing things like anxiety over corporate financial instability, lack of transparency in job security projection, and dismissal of dissatisfaction, that it becomes a bit more obvious that the common denominator is management and corporate structure. I want them to succeed, but it's their inability to believe they could fail that holds them back from creating a reasonable, scalable structure made to support their own workforce. Another problem they often face is by hiring overachievers, which normally isn't problematic, but it's made it so that many careers are atypical, and therefore unhelpful when it comes to finding a new position. (A scenario that many of their workforce recently faced after layoffs.) Starting a business via scrappy budgets, jack-of-all-trades job descriptions, and salaries that reflect the importance of "opportunity" over market value are all fine for a small startup. They have crossed the line into a large corporate playing field but seem to have missed the memo.

Lacks Growth Opportunities

Pros

They pay your insurance premiums and provide free lunch.

Cons

There is a real lack of upward mobility and no room for growth at Malouf. People tend to stay where they started or only make lateral moves. The company’s vision and goals change constantly and no one is ever on the same page with what priorities and focuses should be. Employees are underpaid and any efforts made to take on more responsibility in the hopes of a promotion or a raise tend to go nowhere. There are no pay ranges given so there are vast pay discrepancies among similar roles.
