Upper management touts transparency with all employees then lays off a great deal of the workforce without warning, demonstrating a lack of trust in employees to make decisions that are best for their careers and families Decisions in hard times are made out of fear Updating the building, keeping lunch 100% free, employee discounts on product, and stocking the break room are put ahead of giving more employees a livelihood

Pros

If you're just looking for a free lunch and a place to blend in you'll be a great fit. If you like to have mediocre managers, subpar leadership, and just a place to show up and get paid a low wage, you've found the place to work.

Cons

Management preaches transparency, but it only applies to what they want. If you ask too many questions about the actual issues you'll get "blacklisted". I've yet to encounter a manager that will actually represent you to management. It's always the other way around. Most managers are just trying to look good to the higher-ups; The actual issues of low pay, flexible work, and career growth get dangled out in lip service, always in the near future. I've been here three years with those great opportunities and bright futures always just around the corner. Ambitious people don't stay.

Pros

Free lunches, health care, matching 401k, friendly employees Middle management is great, they actually are open and care for you and how you wish to advance your career. Coworkers are also all great and there is a real sense of community in each department however people generally stay to their groups.

Cons

Malouf's upper management creates a facade of everything being great and wonderful however this is all a front. They consistently claim the market is the root of all issues but there are always back orders for items out of stock or allocated to other retailers. They preach transparency and that they're open about issues but then have surprise layoffs that not even managers are made aware of. There is very clear favoritism that is shown sadly on a daily basis.
