Pros
There is the opportunity to work with some good people and there are some good analysts still left there. The company offers a very high level of service to clients. Paid holiday as company shuts down between Christmas and New Year's. Each team is fairly autonomous, so if you are lucky, you can work with some good people and have a good manager. Maritz has a 'small town' feel, with everything good and bad that goes along with that. The core business is large scale multi-year contract tracking programs. If you're looking for something with a steady pace, this is the place.
Cons
Mid to upper management is ossified and out of touch with the rest of the industry. Maritz is finding it hard to compete in the market and is going through round after round of layoffs and "restructuring." The organization only recently realized it can't continue to rely on postal and phone studies, and are not sure what to do about it. Technology and processes are antiquated, and office politics is the only consistent organizational principle. If you have friends in the right places you can do no wrong. Otherwise, keep your head down and hope nobody notices you. While there are some good managers, others are shockingly inept and unprofessional.
