The biggest cons of Marklund are definitely management and staff. Starting with management, it definitely lacks professionalism. The "leadership team" feels like one big clique that looks out for one another and will tend to forget about the other staff farther down the ladder. The higher ups treat staff poorly when they don't like certain things you are doing. Complaining to leadership about issues you are facing are almost always ignored. There will be real problems at Marklund such as bullying, people not respecting the kids, or incompetence and instead management will focus on what they want to order for a group lunch. It must be nice being able to take time to have a lunch as most of the time you just flat out don’t even get one, but if you try to go to leadership during one of there’s for a real concern, you are turned away. Trying to take time off will usually result in management guilt tripping you into thinking that you aren't supposed to take a day off, even when you have PTO available. Unless you do exactly as everyone says, you will be targeted. Bullying and poor treatment from coworkers are basically part of the job and no one will do anything about it because management doesn't care. Promotions are never given based on skill, experience, or willingness to grow academically. Instead, promotions are given to the "favorites" when there are by far better people. Most teachers don't know how to incorporate ABA into their curriculum, yet they are given all of the power over what they want to do, rather than the RBT's in the classroom. Even when going to the BCBA about issues, they tend to either tell you that they are too busy, or that they will get back to you and never do. Because of all the power struggles and bullying and flat out laziness from staff, the kids often times make almost no progress. Marklund also advertises sign on bonuses or raises, Marklund does not actually offer sign on bonuses and raises are always poor for Paras and RBT's. What rubs it in even more is that while Paras and RBTs and Teachers get poor raises, those in leadership positions see huge pay increases every year.
If you apply to Marklund expect to be in crisis where you will probably get hurt or injured. Other staff and management often times ridicule other people who do get injured and will make comments if you get hurt during one of these moments. I would honestly consider looking elsewhere...
