Pros

- Pay - Good people - Good variety of accounting work - Very generous expensing policy - Nice offices I enjoyed my time working here…. for the most part… actually… the misery from others rubs off… The people are nice and the pay is good. Good accounting work as you get to speak with people in other roles.

Cons

It all starts with the CEO and dictator Joe Foran. There’s the world, but when you step onto the floors that Matador rents… it’s a time machine back into the 1970s management style. This company does not trust its employees. Well, you’re loved if you’re an engineer and kiss so much butt that you begin to emulate Joe. Things really came to light during COVID. You can read about that in other reviews. The reviews I’ve read are accurate. The five star ones are from brown nosers and the Joe brainwashed personnel trying to save face. What is appalling is during the time of elections, Joe sent out an email to the entire company stating “I hope you make the right decision.” Referring to Trump’s pro-oil agenda. What?! Oh, and when COVID first broke out, he sent an email essentially stating that the interest of the shareholders is more important than employee health. Joe has been known to fire anyone who gets on his crap list… from taking time off for emergency matters, to just nit picking at people’s personalities. Management are pawns to his control. There is no HR. You are nothing as an employee, unless you make Joe money. Hard to do if you’re not an engineer. Joe is afraid of losing control and will do anything to maintain his power. Even if it means firing his entire company. The best thing I ever did was leave. He will also force you to clap when he wants you to in employee meetings and things of the sort. Please do not work here unless you are homeless. You will regret it. There is no work life balance. You are expected to work your full 9/80… not a minute less. But probably more.

Pros

A lovely group of people.

Cons

High stress. Culture is not at all what they market it to be. Little support. No HR department. Managers have their own titles to deal with on top of managing, which mean there are terrible managers. Pay is great but not worth the stress.

Pros

nice offices, parking spots are provided, occasional lunches provided, pretty good health insurance plan.

Cons

WORST LEADERSHIP ANYWHERE I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED. Total and complete micromanagement that is lead and micromanaged from the CEO himself. His temper is known throughout the industry and his grudges against employees and business counterparts are legendary. The Executives of the company enable his complete and total mistreatment of employees through their inaction and acceptance of his attitude and behavior. He is always right and although they regularly admit behind closed doors his choices are wrong they also readily admit that they would never question him or take a point in opposition to him. The board has been installed by the CEO and he has gotten rid of every indipendent Board member who has the guts to challenge him. He demands to interview every single employee and he makes every single hiring decision (except occasionally in accounting). He rewards those who never question him and always support him and he punishes and gets rid of those who do not. He uses bonuses as a weapon and a way to disparage employees he does not like and the other executives allow it to happen. He says he has never fired anyone due to market or economic reasons but that is not true, he has. He makes every single decision on who gets hired and fired. Make sure any employment agreement says what it is supposed to. The times that a handshake agreement has been made and then the employment documents say something different are numerous. It does not happen all the time but it does happen. This is also driven from the CEO's office directly.
