Pros

Excellent culture, they respect your work life balance, you get to decide (for the most part) what you work on. There are opportunities to move laterally or vertically.

Cons

As with many consulting type business models, it gets more difficult to staff you the higher you are paid. This puts downward pressure on salary and you'll feel that the higher you go. Also, as with any federal contractor, the company is subject to the whims of the government.

the only pro I can think of is being able to work remotely

I worked at this company for several years and they will not survive this current administration. Not only did they not prepare at all, they have been laying off their employees at a staggering rate. They also have not been winning new bids for work. There have been 4 rounds of layoffs in 2025 alone. There has been zero transparency on how they decide who is laid off and their severance pay is embarrassingly low. Lower level employees are glorified note takers and have difficult time moving up the corporate ladder. Do not be fooled by this company’s “commitment to its values” either. As soon as this new administration started stripping away any mention of DEI Mathematica followed. I write this more as a reviewing knowing that they will not be hiring new staff, possibly ever again at this rate.
