Pros

- The people are generally very cool. - Technology is interesting and has a lot of potential. - Engineering org is talented and highly collaborative. - Decent work/life balance if you are interested in coasting. - Fairly diverse workplace (at the lower levels).

Cons

- Frequent layoffs! Instead of firing poor performers, Matterport has a huge round of layoffs every summer. This has happened for years. This results in a lot of low-performers doing very little all year until they're finally laid off. - Very little reason to perform at above and beyond. Since half the team is coasting until the next layoff, there's a real "do nothing" culture. - Leadership has a hard time sticking to a plan. The roadmap changes constantly and never seems settled. The company shifts gears too frequently to get anything done. Constantly chasing shiny objects. - Despite a lot of talk about being customer centric, priorities are rarely set to benefit the customer. - Not enough data-driven decisions. - Middle managers are all pretty weak. Only introduce more spin and confusion. This might be a symptom of the incomplete/inconsistent plans.

Pros

- Great product with countless applications, functions, and potential - Very well positioned for the future of virtual reality

Cons

EVERYTHING is disconnected and unorganized. People. Products. Processes. - Leadership is massively disconnected from individual employees. They can't understand employees let alone customers. - Hire and Fire. Grim Reaper comes once a year with mass lay offs. - Finding help is a challenge or like going on an epic man hunt - Sales reps are so unprepared to help out with majority of customer issues or inquiries. - Hiring outside managers that don't even understand the product or processes. Managers that aren't even able to help out with some of the most basic of asks from their team or continually point you in the wrong direction. - Sales enablement doesn't enable anything aside from frustration. Salesforce is a total wreck. No one is available/ severely understaffed. Many different sales tools available that are disconnected or not organized at all. A lot of permissions are very restricted wasting so much unnecessary time messaging managers or IT. - Training. No proper initial training, but then getting criticized for not knowing how to do something. next to no resources available. - Unending directionless change. - Terrible tracking of opportunities, deals, etc - No credit for a lot of work between terrible tracking, countless changes, customers going to third parties. - HR is strictly there to protect the company, not it's employees
