Fantastic Product, Awful Leadership & Communication
Pros
Industry-leader doesn't even begin to describe the power of the platform and physical products. Matterport makes incredible cameras and sets the standard for digital twins. It's an exciting market to be in and Matterport should be in a position to absolutely explode in both usage and relevance in the coming years.
Cons
- Unfortunately the leadership at this company is severely lacking, especially in certain corners. Awful leaders can pop up in any company, but they can be discovered and moved out. It seems at Matterport that poor behavior, non-existent communication and people management skills, and a ruthless nature will get you promoted and praised. - The communication and processes for getting anything done within the company leave a lot to be desired, as well. It takes forever to make something happen, even if it is crucial to the business and you have a strong case. - The Sales organization drives most of what happens within the company and from my perception they are driven by a very male-focused energy that is off-putting to some and offensive to many. I would not advise anyone to apply to or work for Matterport in its current state. It's too bad, because the product is wonderful and could be such a powerful force in an AI world.
