Competitive pay, similar to other tech firms.

Cons

Huge disconnect at the executive level. Lack of proper leadership is causing below-expected growth. The company's leadership also lacks proper planning capabilities. They had 2 major layoffs in the past years (most recent in July 2022) while growing the company from 300 to 500+ in 2021.

- Good Work culture - Friendly colleagues - Pay is not good neither bad

Cons

- Leadership is not effective ( they dont have quarterly , annual road maps , priortization is not done - one liner jira's to deliver - one sprint you are working on something mid of sprint you are asked to work on something else - no documentation of any sort to onboard new developers

Pros

Matterport has some great leadership that's very competent at navigating priorities relative to the market. It's sad that they acquired multiple companies in 2022 and then did a massive layoff that I lost my job in, but I believe this is for the best at Matterport. Severance was fair. Benefits were great. Learning opportunities and growth are plentiful, you just have to plan it around the right approach. I understand this is a business and I hold nothing against them. Grateful for my time there and I would work for them again if the market wasn't in the shape it's currently in or if I were in a different field. Also, everyone I worked with was extremely professional and talented. I never had a bad work experience and it always felt like we were ramping up/growing exponentially in a calm, yet exciting way. If you do get to work here, Maybe it's just my prior experience, but this was such a breath of fresh air to work with people that were above their egos and also had lots of experience in their subject matter.

Cons

I think that while Matterport is the leader in their space, the core product is definitely ahead of its time. Combine that with the current tech bubble looking like it's going to burst and they might miss the mark and fold. They are pivoting decently, so it could go either way, but it's tough to have the utmost confidence in their situation as great as a workplace as it is.
