Mavis "Sweatshop" Tires

Pros

Great employee discount on parts and tires.

Cons

-Management has little to no automotive background. (Managers will actually belittle you and would rather insult your knowledge) -Horrible pay. (35 cent commission on a 60lb tire? Wtf?) -Poor time management. (Managers are late) -NO OVERTIME PAY (They'd rather cut your hours than pay you) -Rip customers off (They'd sell a brake flush then they only flush the master cylinder then make it look clean with brake clean. $79.99 for 1 bottle of brake fluid...)

Worst Company Ever

Pros

Honestly, not many. As an entry-level person you can gain practical experience BUT don't allow yourself to adopt their sales or management philosophies which are a throw back to high pressure over selling rip off facilities that gives the industry a bad reputation

Cons

Poor treatment of employees is an understatement. This company is out to gouge the customer ever single step of the way, and they do that by putting pressure on us managers and technicians to sell products and services. They dont tell you to rip people off but they know you have to to hit numbers, it's like a big secret game. Fall below the target profit dollars and you will get multiple phone calls every day from upper management harassing you to hit your #'s, no questions asked and no excuses. You feel like your job is at risk every single day. Upper management for retail likes to "preach" to the masses but in practice expect you to do the worst things possible to hit numbers. They bought out a good company with TRUST as a motto and approach to the customer and completely destroyed that in ever way possible. Ultimately they will cash out just like the prior executives did. In the meantime it's a depressing and embarrassing place to work. Don't fool yourself for a minute thinking they care either, just like the top couple previous owners the current ones are in it for the money not the employees and certainly not the customers. Sadly it is time to look for a new company to work for. I don't want to be here anymore since it's become Mavis.

Dishonest atmosphere

Pros

No need to worry about getting fired, they're too desperate for people

Cons

Most dishonest atmosphere I have ever been hired into. Was told in my interviews unrealistic numbers for my weekly pay and within a few days of starting every employee I encountered on a store level told me it was lies and I would never see that kind of money unless I was in the best stores in the company. Forced to try and sell work the cars don't need and neglect more pressing concerns. They want you pushing shocks and power steering flushes meanwhile a truck has broken shackles and springs but not technicians with the skills or tools to fix them. Was told we fix too many tires and need to just lie and tell the customer it is not fixable. Did not hire one single technician with any reputable skill the entire time I worked there. Constantly micromanaged and being watched on the cameras. All the guys working under me were constantly unhappy and it reflected in their work and high turnover. They try to keep their prices as low as possible so they use low quality parts with lots of issues. 15 years in the industry I have never been in a shop with so many come backs for noisy brakes and they just slap another set of cheap pads that will be making noise next week.
