Pros

I love my case, have been on it for over 4 years now.

Cons

So many to list, where should I start? I have to pick up my nursing flow sheets at the office for my case, I am not compensated for this. Just 2 years ago, I got fed up about not being paid anything for yearly, mandatory education hours. All these requirements you need to keep your job, yet they were not willing to pay because "we cant bill the client for this". I called the Dept of Labor, and found out it was illegal, and we should get paid. In informing my office manager this info...he was not happy. He sarcastically said to me, "I thought you were a good nurse.", I simply told him I have every right to discuss with the Dept of Labor what wages I am, and am not, getting. So he then says to me, "So now I have to enter 15 mins of pay for 54 nurses!." Sorry dude, It's not my job you are not paying me and everyone else legally. Well then to find out....they only pay $7.70 for education hours. Not nearly my regular work rate by far. How this is legal, I have no idea. If anyone has any insight please let me know. I am considering again making an appt with the Dept of Labor and filing formal complaints. Then to also top it off, if you worked regular hours at 40, then 2 hrs of education. They do not give you OT on those education hours. Now these hours have to do with my job, which also means my license. It is just another way to not pay their nurses fairly. Oh! And I bet that their internal office staff gets their regular rate for education/meetings. And I am sure my office manager gets his full pay as well. Do not expect Yearly raises, or longevity bonuses. I have been with them for 5+ years and have never gotten a raise, or a bonus. I really do not want a lunchbag, or a pen. What I want is to be compensated for the care that I give to every client. Why? Because without us nurses, Maxim Execs would not be getting their bonuses!!! No 401k, no vacation or sick hours.

Pros

You and 2 or 3 other guys run a healthcare office top to bottom. Good for bullet points on a resume later on. It can be fun at times, you get really close to the other recruiters and the camaraderie makes a rough situation a little better. I really liked doing the flu and wellness clinics.

Cons

1) The pay is awful. on a good week, you'll clear 600 bucks (this was before the recession). May not seem too bad, except you'll work a 50 hour week at the bare minimum, and be on call at least 2 nights a week (depends how many recruiters work in your office). 2) Your staff. Homecare pays considerably less than facility work, so your workers are the absolute bottom of the barrel; weird burnouts with personality problems that have been bounced out of every hospital in the state. They are as reliable as a Russian car. They will no call no show critical patients at 3 in the morning when you are on call, putting you in the position of telling the patients family to call an ambulance (fun times). I wouldn't trust these people to hold my place in line, let alone monitor my ventilator. 3) Scapegoating. Almost everyone gets fired eventually. You can get fired for any reason, at any time; and they do. Not just lower levels, everyone. Everyone I worked with, from the HR girl to my Regional manager has been fired. 4) Legal issues. I'll leave it at that
