Pros

- Since I wore so many hats, I gained a lot of experience that will be useful throughout my career - Provide a valuable service for patients and candidates - Working at Maxim will make you appreciate the future companies you work for

Cons

- Toxic workplace led to an above average turnover rate internally and externally (especially among recruiters) - For a low salary, I worked ~10 hr days in the office, and then I was on-call multiple days/nights each week - Some managers were incompetent, had unrealistic expectations, and had no interest in training staff or standing-up for their recruiters - I did not trust any Maxim employee in a leadership or corporate role - On call ruined my sleep cycle and negatively affected my social life - No annual or merit based raise for recruiters - Almost every time I answered the phone, it was regarding something negative from a client or caregiver (call off, no call no show, disagreement/issue, etc.) - Very few quality caregivers want to work for Maxim

Thank you for the sentiment. We will pass this along to management to review. Turnover has decreased over the past several years. Being a recruiter can be a demanding job, but rewarding, as well. Several managers at Maxim began their careers as recruiters, so opportunities are available. Good luck in your future endeavors. Regards - Steven

Pros

Being in healthcare can truly be rewarding. Making a difference in lives and connections with clients is a wonderful gift.

Cons

For branch level and below its awful. You get paid bare minimum for an over the top volume of work. There is only room to grow if you grease the elbows of the people in charge. And the corporate team does not follow through on the protection of employees. Harassment of all kinds and bullying happen daily in offices. If you do report anything, management can retaliate and get away with it. I couldn't figure out why this company has such a large turn over rate when I first started, but now you can see almost any office will go through 15-30 office staff quitting in a year or so, because the work enviroment is so unhealthy. Aides and nurses get paid next to nothing, but will stick around for thwir patients. It's beautiful and amazing, and I never blame them when they resign when their patient moves to another agency or passes away. There's little to no support for them. They deserve to be shown their valued.

Pros

Had the opportunity to work in a school as an LPN.

Cons

There is not one honest person in the office. The head recruiter is the worst! They try to woo you into taking cases by telling you how wonderful and easy they are. Everything that comes out of their mouths is lies. There is NO communication at all between the staff and they all sit within the same 4 walls. No communication between the office and patient families. If you work for Maxim be prepares to be thrown under the bus for EVERY mistake the office staff makes. I have been forced to apologize to administration for office staffs mistakes. You are told to do one thing and then berated for doing what you're told to do. If you speak up for yourself they will pull you off the cases you have worked with for months and enjoy forcing you to work hours that do not allow you to take care of family or have a life and cut your hours so badly you can't make a living wage. I have not had one paycheck that was compensated correctly, I'm always shorted. They will tell you they have overlooked your nursing paperwork and time sheets and tell you that you have to wait until the next payday. This is very common for all of their field employees. The office staff receives their full compensation. Once they know they have made a mistake they will avoid you like the plague because they are too cowardly to face up to their failures. I wouldn't wish for my worst enemy to work for this company!! Don't fall for their lies and smooth talking to get you in the door!
