Pros

Nobody bothers me too much and I have flexibility, which is fantastic! The recruitment staff are friendly. Its a low fuss job. Because of these reasons I like working for Maxim.

Cons

The pay is low and I need to analyze my weekly paychecks because I've been shorted numerous times. In 4 years I haven't gotten a raise. That means every year inflation goes up I am taking a pay cut. The leadership structure is dysfunctional- for example I am a RN with a BSN and decades of successful experience and my supervisor is a much less experienced LPN. It doesn't make sense how underqualified LPNs get leadership roles while much more qualified RNs and BSNs get left behind. Its insulting. I have brought up patient issues which have gone ignored. When I bring forward too many patient issues, the supervisor has responded by working to terminate the patient instead of fixing the problem. This has happened to me multiple times. It leaves patients without care, costs the company revenue, and forces me to find other patients to care for. By doing this the supervisor has essentially trained me to keep quiet and brush patient issues under the rug- or else the patient will be fired and I will have to find different patients to care for. I have asked my supervisor for skills training and was denied. The company expects me to drive large distances in my personal car but doesn't pay mileage or supplement for wear and tear on my car. That is a hidden deduction off the already low pay I receive given the cost of transportation. The manager and supervisors all get large bonuses, vacations, and perks- but the nurses who provide the care get absolutely nothing.
