Pros

There are several programs within the company to advance your career, and you'll have an opportunity to be a mentor to other offices. The CEO and others at the top of the company seem to really care about their mission and values.

Cons

Management chose their favorite people and if you weren't one of them then it didn't matter how hard you worked or how much you contributed to the team - they would ostracize you and create a work environment so toxic that quitting was the only way to maintain your sanity. While I was there, it seemed like there was a shift from focusing on the clients and caregivers and their wellbeing to focusing on profits and making sure the management team got their bonuses and incentive trips. It felt like the leadership team really stopped caring about the mission and only cared about money. The benefits were mediocre at best.

Pros

I really liked my coworkers. Some of the managers really care and do whatever they can to encourage you and help you succeed.

Cons

You’re put on a team, with other recruiters, a client coordinator, and one manager being the team leader. One team had a female manager who everyone loved and always spoke very highly of, even when she wasn’t around. She went over and above to help/fight for people on her team and was empathetic and kind. The other team had a manager who was terrible at reading people, passive aggressive, cold, and caused so much unnecessary anxiety for his team members. A co-worker started shortly before me and was put on the team with the supportive, empathetic manager. She loves working there, is optimistic about her career, and is thriving. I was anxious, miserable, and quickly felt burnt out and defeated. The leadership there can make or break you.

Pros

Learned a lot while employed there.

Cons

This organization and the people who run it are shameful. I worked there from 2014 - 2017. While I was there, they required CA "Recruiters" to work 8AM - 6PM Monday - Friday as salaried employees. Numerous class action lawsuits were filed, where they would settle, but then continue to require work hours to be from 8AM - 6PM. Simply put, they knew what they were doing was wrong, but don't really care about the employees. While you are with the organization as a leader, you can earn "stock" or deferred compensation, but they do whatever they can to avoid paying you this. I personally know 5 people who had to send cease and desist letters in order to get any of their earned "stock" that they worked hard for. You basically cant leave Maxim and work in the same industry without moving to a different state if you want to get your "stock" or avoid being sued by them because of their bogus non-compete. The organization is run by a bunch of fraternity boys and a washed up baseball player who wasn't good enough to go pro. Do yourself a favor and avoid Maxim Healthcare Services.
