Pros

Pay was decent for entry level

Cons

Procedure changed often and was almost impossible to keep up with. Expected to sit down, stay quiet, input data like a maniac for hours on end. penalties for missing quotas or typos were job threatening

Pros

Competitive salary, opportunities for advancement, Follows Federal holiday schedule

Cons

Training is horrible. The training philosophy as well as their culture is a very "do or die" "take it or leave it" mentality. It is the worst environment I've ever worked in. Managers and supervisors play the blame game with their employees and each other, and their is zero accountability. The company is only interested in quality on paper, but there is no serious management commitment to quality. Management is purely interested in numbers and trying to keep contracts using any means necessary, including practices that push the ethical boundary. Also MAXIMUS is great at placing the wrong people in the wrong positions. The managers there are some of the most highly educated people I've ever met but the have zero business/ managerial skills. Most of the people in management positions have management positions because they are lawyers, doctors or both. That sounds great in theory but you seriously have to wonder what would attract a doctor or lawyer from practicing their profession to come and work for MAXIMUS. I can tell you personally, it isn't the company atmosphere or the fringe benefits attracting people to these jobs. Which leads me to my last point. This company is a haven for attracting the worst of the worst professionals. Makes sense though-- if you could hack it as a trial attorney or get a position at a firm you wouldn't take a job making well below the industry average. This place is really a lint trap for the undesirables.
