Some fit in here, some do not

Pros

Great pay and benefits. Excellent staff and quality of healthcare delivery overall.

Cons

If you tend to be an independent thinker and you do not immediately conform to the cultural norms, you might not fit in. There’s this thing called “Mayonization” where you get taught how to do things the Mayo Clinic way. But it can feel like a cult. I have also observed poor leadership when it comes to managing conflicts. Basically there’s in “in group” and an “out group” (at least in my work area), and you can get pushed around a lot if you are in the out group. And don’t try to defend yourself if you are in the out group. You will end up being called out as the problem.

Time to move on…

Pros

Safe communtiy, great patients, excellent colleagues. Still offers traditional retirement pension plan. Fair compenstion and benefits.

Cons

This used to be a physician led organization. Physicians nowadays are being forced to comply with unrealistic and unhealthy expectations implemented by spreadsheet analysts despite record breaking revenues. If these continue, over the next few years, this organization will most probably see an exodus of physicians. Physicians are being gaslit into thinking that this organization cares about physician well-being through talking points and scripts from management but their actions clearly indicate the complete opposite. Day to day physician workflow are being micromanaged by administrators. Physicians are NOT unionized and should be!

Pros

Float management is strong, wonderful benefits, strong values

Cons

While values are strong they aren't followed. Extremely "bottom line" driven for a non-profit. How departments treat their float coworkers is inexcusable - and extremely close minded to new ideas. If you don't fit their happy go luck everything is fine mold and start to challenge things it is the most hostile and horrible place to work. Basically only work here if you are a "yes" person. Also pay is AWFUL. Unless you are an RN do NOT expect overtime or any way shape or form to get additional hours.
