Pros

Good coworkers, caring managers, wonderful family friendly company. I enjoyed the work itself and the people I was working with, and once you learn how everything works it's a great place to work. You have an hour for lunch, decent pay, and can take two 15 minute breaks a day.

Cons

There is a lot to learn, and not enough time to learn it in. There are so many orders to do in a day, we were regularly working 6-8 hours overtime every week for months on end. The company works on a 'you don't leave until the orders for today are done' mentality - but because of the rapid growth, we were often left drowning, when instead more people should have been hired to take care of the growth. We were often told that it would calm down in a month or so, but this continued from October to January. The stress of the job was enough to drive you crazy! When you first get hired, you are given a crash course, and then have to learn the rest through trial and error. This works in some places, but at McElroy it tended to intimidate many new hires due to the sheer volume of work that has to be done - there's so much going on, and little promise for growth in the company, and many decide to leave rather than stick through it. Because I was a temp-to-full time hire, I was told I would wait 3 months for evaluation. They continued to say I needed improvement, and kept me on as a temp even though I worked there for over a year, and many of my coworkers said I did as well as they did. This place runs off of temps. Of the six to eight members of my department that I saw while I was there, only two were full-time employees by the time I left - the other three full-timers either moved offices or left the company, and when I left there was me and two other temps working here.

Pros

Profit sharing, 401K, tuition reimbursement program, employer paid flu vaccinations, health, vision, life insurance offered, gym membership available for no cost as long as you go to the gym 8 times per month, most co-workers are friendly, atmosphere appears to be family oriented, customer driven, advancement potential for male employees

Cons

Female employees with a desire to advance within a company will never break through the glass ceiling, some of the department managers are interest only in themselves and have lost focus of the bigger picture, favortism runs rampid throughout the company, schedules do not offer much flexibility, they encourage education but then won't adapt your schedule so that you may attend once your school schedule requires it
