Pros

Efficient Help-Desk support. Employees are nice, friendly and helpful.

Cons

IT is mismanaged by middle management and therefore prolonging project lives. No communication and directions. Always in a reactive mode and relying too much on consultants. No development standards nor framework.

Pros

Good opportunities in core business areas (e.g. construction, engineering, energy) as company does promote from within. The culture isn't what it used to be, but still fairly people-oriented and includes some perks including pretty good benefits and work-life balance. Culture is pro-sustainability and community oriented.

Cons

They've been a business for a long time and despite the slick marketing it's really a very conservative construction company. Some of the non-construction parts of the company don't get a lot of attention and don't fit into McKinstry's overall business and there are limited opportunities there. Not great pay and generally not great talent. McKinstry is not technology oriented and the internally-built tools are a bit of a joke and new technology roll outs (e.g. timesheet system, new ERP) don't go well.
