Pros

Everyone within Mead and Hunt is a professional and treats each other with respect, it is like nothing I have experienced with previous employers. Mead and Hunt cares about the employees and the employee families.

Cons

I was unable to negotiate vacation time equivalent to my previous employer - had to sign on with one week less vacation. Vacation time is accrued monthly, so it can be a number of months of working before you accrue enough time to take one day off.

My (5-8 year) experience with Mead and Hunt

Pros

My division was willing to hire me out of college with limited experience. Relocation was smooth. Benefit package for health related items was far better than average, but pricey for a family. The CEO and upper level VP's have good insight and communicate well to employees. Provides a good fit for entry level employees to become skilled. Substantial Christmas bonus for all employees (about 8% of salery).

Cons

Let me premise this by saying, "I didn't work in an engineering group, so my criticism may not be applicable to the core of the company". However, I did work in a billable, client contact position. Salary didn't keep up with inflation or skill set. Tuition reimbursement is a joke. You need to stay with the company five years after you have received your degree or else you must pay back the amount that the company fronted. The company only pays for 50% of tuition. Despite gleaming employee reviews, words were not backed up with actions on the part of middle management. There is no plan for the advancement of internal employees.

Pros

Down to earth relationships. Will work to keep employees they value. Overall, fair company that treats people well. Makes decisions that seem to keep the company profitable without hurting the people.

Cons

Flat and undefined hierarchy that makes it difficult to understand how to move upward. Difficult to understand when/if/how you will be invited to be a stockholder. Company is struggling with how to grow. Strong and capable leadership up top but few flag carriers in the middle/upper middle. Although a program is in place, it is so lack-luster that i would say they don't pay for graduate degrees.
