Think twice - Unethical Business Practices

Pros

The majority of the employees are very hard working and good people.

Cons

You will have to threaten to leave to get decent compensation for the work you do if you are a top performer. Top performing, meaning someone they don't want to lose. When you get hired, they will make you sign a bunch of stuff and gloss over what it means. They have taken former employees to court numerous times to get them fired from their new jobs. Using archaic and truly unethical business practices they way they use them. They will make you sign a non-compete agreements. Then if you go work for anyone doing a similar job, Even if your new employer doesn't even bid on the same contracts or do same exact jobs. They will still go after you to get you fired. They have done this to multiple people while I worked there and others after I escaped. It is truly a disgusting practice by the CEO. They even fired someone and that person got a new job later and they went after them. Even after firing this person due to "downsizing" then they changed the job title and hired new people to replace them, They had to change the job title to get around legal issues that would have came up if they had just hired for the same job title. Even though the new job had the same roles and responsibilities. You can find information about these lawsuits online via government sites. I worked there for over 10 years. I escaped a while ago but finally leaving this review after hearing about another instance of this predatory non-compete practice they use. The practice they use for non-compete is something you would see at say a veterinary clinic where one doctor leaves and opens up another clinic serving the same area. The issue here is Mechdyne treats the world as their area. If you work for them and want to leave. You better hope your new job is a completely new field not doing anything similar to what you did while working for them. They also were involved in a labor dispute that they lost and required them to pay current and former employees wages for several years, but even after losing that they found a legal loophole to pay people less than normal and compensate them with "overtime" so they essentially didn't get any more pay. The only winners there were the people that left and filed the complaint. While working there I was drinking the Kool-Aid but after I left I could clearly see how poor they treat people.

Pros

If you want to be on the forefront of new technology and work 24/7 this job is for you. Social's once a month are great but if bars and drinking aren't your thing no point in going.

Cons

Be prepared to be worked to death and burnout. The company would rather pile on work to individuals then outsource help or hire on more people. Don't expect great pay or pay increase for your hard work they will only base you off of small-town market value. Be sure to have a lot in savings because all expensive will be out of pocket and not reimbursed for minimum one month. Diversity is not even in the building. Age dissemination is prevalent, and I was told on day "because of your age and gender you are going to have to prove yourself to everyone until you reach 40 years old."

Pros

Nice office building in Schaumburg. (Mechdyne office suite itself is depressing.)

Cons

Management only cares about the bottom line, never receptive to constructive feedback. Everyone who’s put in their heart and effort to their work is treated as disposable. Extreme micromanagement and low pay for comparable positions in the area. Benefits are simultaneously poor and expensive. Overworked and somehow never enough in the budget for growing needs and salaries yet the company breaks profit records annually. Work from home is stigmatized. I can’t wrap my head around these suspicious glowing reviews, there’s just no way they aren’t fake. Company culture is toxic, nepotism is prominent and turnover is a huge issue. There’s no room for growth, it’s almost a comedy watching a rotation of ambitious professionals start here and progressively become the sad embodiment of grey corporate shills.
