Lean staffing and over managed

Pros

Work remotely, decent pay , they provide equipment

Cons

Over managed to a degree of disfunction. They create management roles under no premise with no reason why it is needed. When employees and managers show the need for more staff it’s met with resistance and “ this is a start up”. But will PIP employees for falling behind the amount of work. Instead of using the staffs experience to know when they can’t do more, management will create metrics without any data that is to be met. This was a great company at first but has taken a turn for the ugly side of corporate.

Toxic leadership and burnout culture - avoid at all costs

Pros

None that are worth mentioning

Cons

- Leadership operates in constant crisis mode with no clear strategic vision. Decision-making is centralized among a a few key leaders who regularly exclude or dismiss input from others. - Work-life balance is not just ignored, it's actively discouraged. We would regularly reject candidates who even mentioned wanting balance between work and personal life. - The company prioritizes shipping fast over building well. Years of cutting corners have created so much technical debt that the product is becoming unmaintainable. - The toxic environment creates a blame culture where overworked teammates will throw you under the bus to save themselves. Don't expect to hear about issues until your performance review. - Your experience depends entirely on which team you land on; some teams are manageable while others are complete burnout factories with impossible expectations. Bottom line: Run. This place will chew you up and teach you all the wrong lessons about professional life.

Poorly organized and they don't care about you

Pros

None. Salary is at market level, benefits are standard (no 401K match). Hiring managers will strong arm you into taking a worse offer "because you believe in the company" if you're not prepared to stand your ground. There's a culture of overworking. Coworkers are back-stabby and don't care about you. Managers give poorly structured feedback.

Cons

See above. There's been a lot of attrition and back-and-forth about strategy. I don't believe it's truly a mission based company. I think the CEO only cares about getting rich. The company values reflect that. (Though I don't think it's even going to do that.) One of the engineering managers in particular is really shady.
