Pros

The life work balance is great. Nice office space and very good non management employees. The company has great potential when it grows up.

Cons

Don't make mistake or will be fired, unless you're in R&D and write bad code. Way too many managers, and VPs just a waste of money since they are not technical nor know how to manage. To much back staving by managers to save themselves. No promotions unless you work in NYC office. The unlimited PTO might seem great unless you don't use it and then are fired because you will leave with ZERO money.

Pros

Nice small game room at New York office with ps4, Xbox one, pool table, etc.

Cons

Very very bad middle management. Direct managers are kind of pain and introduces more obstacles, reduces morale. It's pretty much of my way or highway from senior people working on the team. Teams are ran by a single person , instead of working as a team. Product has no idea what it's doing. HR will say that the company is awesome and the glassdoor reviews are by past management. Dont listen to them. Run as far as you can from this company. You have been warned. :)

Thank you for your review. At Medidata, we hire the best talent, and sometimes that means hiring new managers. This is why we offer new and improved Learning and Development workshops such as “Having Quality Conversations”. We also recently introduced a new Leading at Medidata program for all new leaders to help them understand our culture of collaboration and innovation. Our most recent employee survey results reported an 85% employee engagement score, which most companies would envy. That's not to say we are perfect and some managers need more coaching and development but as we learn of problem areas we do attend to them.

Pros

It feels good to be connected to a larger mission of improving clinical research. The starting pay was competitive for the market. The benefits are nice although unlimited PTO seems easiest to use in small chunks of time. There is a lot of flexibility to set your work hours around appointments, daycare, etc.

Cons

There's lots of talk about building better solutions, but reality yields an experience closer to whack-a-mole with legacy tech debt and constantly changing priorities. We don't spend enough time understanding our users. Our "new" solutions are based on existing customer requirements instead of being guided by a clear strategy. With too much to do and not enough resources we often go for quick fixes, incentivized by getting better metrics for our year-end goals. My team has taken changes to their job functions in stride, but if we continue to only follow where the wind blows they may jump ship—especially considering our raises were around 2.5% despite "excellent performance" with 15% software revenue growth in 2022.
