      Working at Medline means trading job satisfaction for security and compensation.

      Pros

      The company is privately owned and it's core business is health care distribution, so there is a lot of job security. Compensation and benefits are good, though a large percentage of most compensation packages are in bonus money. There are few layers of management, so top-level managers know almost everyone at HQ and your career can advance very quickly if you deliver results.

      Cons

      There is no work-life balance. They are very strict on work hours, and there is no flexibility for child care or recurring medical appointments. Senior management lacks diversity, and there is no indication of any desire to change that. Being family-owned, there is a lot of nepotism, and an "old boys club" feeling that borders on hostility to women and people of color.

      It is questionable, at best, their methods of winning new business No strategy, only react Most interested in bottom line, not what's best for patients When you leave, your benefits end at midnight of your last day... yet they take FULL PAYMENT of benefits from your last paycheck, without pro-rating for days of coverage ex: my last pay period was 2 business days yet they extracted the full amount of healthcare benefits from my paycheck. I even asked ahead of time and they confirmed they don't

      Negatives far supercede any current pros.I am issuing a warning to avoid.

      Cons

      Post Acute is an overflowing red bath. Issuing a strong warning to avoid any Account Manager or Sales Rep positions.I am 18 months in as a sales rep on the West coast and looking for an exit. Years of poor desicions and an absent leader has resulted in negative growth and a "surge" to cut , cut and cut some more....finance and legal department has assumed a strong grip over a flailing commision structure.$500 gift cards has replaced any former motivation to make a living. I have had 3 managers in 18 months and I have seen the team turn over 9 out of the 11. It is currently a task driven, dry and micro managed mess to pass the blame to you, the new hire. I strongly advise: avoid.
