Thank you for leaving a review! We are glad to hear you have had a positive experience with Medpace and are enjoying the perks and culture we offer. We take pride in the “flex” schedule we offer employees. Of course, every department is different there are some, such as our labs, that require minimum coverage. Supervisors do have preferences when it comes to hours, but we try and allow individuals to come and go as needed by adjusting their schedule as necessary around a core workday. We encourage our associates to address these issues directly with their supervisors. Medpace has also allowed remote work where we feel remote work is possible. We have not offered widespread remote work in the past, as we feel our work is conducted more efficiently and collaboratively from the office environment. Once the pandemic is over and we are no longer on staggered every other week in office schedules, we plan to maintain elements of regular work from home flexibility in most of our positions and locations. This positive change was just recently announced to our employees and as anticipated has been positively received. Thank you!

Pros

Great new Dallas office and detailed training program with great mentors.

Cons

All white company. Overworked and underpaid. No home-based work option until 1 year or 8 site days per month. Some employees that were there over 2 years still never got to be home-based.

Thank you for your feedback. We are glad to hear you enjoy our newly renovated office in Dallas and the wonderful training programs we have in place. We take great pride in the PACE training program for new CRAs and have received wonderful feedback from sponsors. We are very taken back about your comments on diversity. We are extremely proud of the diverse culture we promote here at Medpace. We value employees from all different backgrounds and believe that contributes to much of our success. Medpace was clearly not a fit for you, but we wish you well in your future endeavors.

Pros

The CRA training program is thorough and you will learn most of what you need to know about the industry and monitoring. I was lucky to have a supportive manager throughout my time at Medpace, and I’m grateful for her support and advocacy for me; Unfortunately, that's not the case for most managers. Any other “perks” or benefits are not provided out of the benevolence from leadership but as a way to distract employees from increased workload, low pay, and minimal appreciation.

Cons

Many prospective CRAs are told they can choose their therapeutic study area based on their prior experience, which simply isn't true. Instead most get routed to oncology monitoring, since it’s where the money is. The elimination of the clinical monitoring intern role in 2017 made it so Medpace could keep CRAs at an entry-level position (with corresponding low salary) for at least two full years. Whether any CRA level promotion is approved seems to depend solely on the whims of higher-ups. Promotions and earned bonuses are held over your head for months and months and often postponed with no explanation. Medpace’s justification for these level changes and promotional changes was to “align with industry standards”; Funny how this alignment does not extend to industry salary standards. They may insist they regularly review compensation but that does not mean they regularly and fairly grant salary increases and bonuses. Many CRAs tend to get two years of experience then leave for better companies and fair salaries. A lot of Glassdoor reviews echo this reality. The gross discrepancies in pay at Medpace are unjustifiable, especially with CRAs - someone with similar study and site capacity can make substantially more than you. Keeping your head down goes a long way here. HR exists to protect Medpace, not employees, so I would recommend avoiding them for any complaint or grievance. Just because you are in training does not mean you are guaranteed to stay. They fire you for minimal mistakes or if the Sr. T&D Manager doesn’t like you, which ends up being a waste of everyone’s time. The fear-based motivation doesn’t go far in producing good morale and teamwork because most work friends you make will be gone in a year. The non-compete you have to sign is another manifestation of this type of motivation. To this day, termination is used as a motivational factor which eventually exhausts employees, leading to burnout or looking elsewhere. This only worsened during the pandemic, after Medpace fired a bunch of people with no warning or project handovers.

Pros

Training is great and will prepare you for the role. However, they will fire you if you cannot keep up with your peers. This creates a competitive environment and can last long after training is completed.

Cons

While in training, you are observed all the time. You feel as if you are still in school. You are only hired if you sign a non-compete which prevents you from working at a different CRO for a year in the USA. Some HR will also state your salary expectations are to have a 20-30% raise after completing their 4 month training program. However, in reality you do not see that pay raise until after working 2 years there to align with what competitors would be offering you. They will also not state this in writing only verbally because if it is not written down, it did not happen. You will most likely only see a 1.5-2.5% raise if you have not already been fired.

Thank you for leaving a review. We are happy to hear you received great training during your time with us. A non-compete agreement is a very common practice in competitive industries, such as ours. Medpace notifies all candidates who interview of our employment contract prior to offering a position. This allows each candidate to evaluate if the non-compete agreement is something they feel comfortable with prior to joining the organization. We apologize for any confusion or misinformation regarding promotions/raises. We cannot promise raises and do not include it in our offer letters as it depends solely on the individual’s performance. We hold evaluations twice a year and performance is evaluated at this time. Timing of promotions and specific salary increases are dependent on performance, and therefore cannot be guaranteed. Although there may be some cases where a promotional track is longer due to individual performance, the opposite is also true. Entry level CRAs, for example, are generally promoted around the 18 month mark but some are as early and one year or as late as two years. As noted, our training program is thorough and intense and associates will find success at different paces. We are always willing to address concerns and hear recommendations on ways to improve. Thank you for the feedback.
