Pros

-None whatsoever; Meijer is only concerned with turning a profit and donating money to fund a blatantly liberal agenda while treating its employees like garbage.

Cons

-No open communication with managers or team leads; highly retaliatory -Low pay for expected hours and labor demands -Unreasonable hours and ignorance of employee availability -Forced diversity, with emphasis on filling diversity quotas instead of hiring reliable, long-time workers -Lax policies regarding employee absences -No benefits for part-time workers or students; employees are expected to be full-time to receive any benefits, including insurance -No disciplinary policies towards toxic employees and behavior in the workforce

Pros

The people are really great. Tends to be an older crowd, mid to late career individuals, a lot of whom have been there for 20-30 years, and some even longer. So there's a lot to learn and clearly established family culture. Great perks including tuition assistance, nice corporate offices, companywide events, free food, so on and so on. Really good work/life balance. Also Fridays you can leave at noon during the summer. Flexible WFH schedule.

Cons

Major over-reliance on low-quality external contractors. I mean seriously, like 70% of the people I work with are contractors. Specifically folks from Tata who are rude and tend to over-promise and under deliver. Teams tend to consist of 1 FTE and 4-10 contractors, which makes the culture really unbearable sometimes. Lack of focus in terms of business decisions and direction. For example, major restructuring to save money, but will invest millions on unproven tools that no one knows how to use. Not a clear path for upward momentum through the company. Low velocity for feature delivery means that if you're interested in working with the latest technologies, you're probably not going to get that opportunity for a few years. Losing talent at a huge rate. Benefits don't kick in until 1 year after working, including 401k matching. Require you to live in the midwest, even if working full remote.
