Pros

Melissa & Doug makes some of the best educational toys on the market. Parents, Grandparents, educators, therapists, & all in between stand by their quality and play value. It was an easy sell to most & I knew I wasn't pushing low quality & cheap value toys.

Cons

For years no one had titles, so you were in Sales, Customer Service, Operations and that was it. They didn't encourage growth no matter how much you learned (on your own) since their was little to no formal training there. In the last couple years, all the new hires had these lofty titles. It was a joke. The people that really knew how to get things done & had been building the company up for years were doing the day in day out dirty work. No matter how much you grew your business year over year they would keep the raises to a minimum or come up with BS about how the company didn't perform as well as they had hoped. Communication was not open ended & only came on a need to know basis. Most employees were kept in the dark as to the major decisions being made behind the scenes. Working there for 15+ years with stellar reviews year after year still didn't mean anything to the new CEO & management team. They didn't have a relationship with all of us veterans or loyalty to us so I guess it was an easy decision to just let us go. We were all just treated like a number in the end. And the owners, Melissa & Doug, never communicated once with the employees during anyone being furloughed and ultimately when we were let go. It was a big group of very talented & dedicated people that were the ones to be pushed out. Only a handful of the veterans remain on staff now, but so much has changed for the worse. And for the 15+ years of service we were all given 2 weeks of Severance Pay. 2 WEEKS!!! What a giant slap in the face! Be decent! We broke our backs, worked many weekends & holidays, traveled the world for you, sold, sold, sold, opened account after account anywhere & everywhere in the world we could for you, left our families for weeks at a time for you...to be thrown away with no communication, minimal severance, & the worst taste in our mouths. Why did we all do as much as we did for you? What a waste! What a shame! They makes great toys...that's it. They don't treat anyone like family, but rely on families around the world to support their "cause". Don't go here.

Pros

You get paid. If you read these reviews (the real ones, like this one), you will know what to expect). They are uniform in their treatment of people in sales and service. the owners have built a remarkable business. They pay reasonably well.

Cons

The two owners are arrogant and condescending. They belittle and berate workers. There is no positive reinforcement. Do not expect improvement in treatment. Do not expect understanding for personal emergencies or issues. There business model preys on lack of sophistication of small business mom & pop owners who make up a disproportionate percentage of their sales. Outbound sales personnel are expected to sell hard, include unrequested merchandise, and stonewall requests for returns. They have no interest in caring for the emotional welfare of well being of others. You cannot expect respect
