Pros

Great professional development department, amazing founders who provide excellent mentorship and experience, "Mission First", excellent pay and benefits, research opportunities, tuition reimbursement, beautiful grounds and facility, phenomenal maintenance crew, great clients, and hard-working staff who don't get enough credit.

Cons

School-Age and Residential Directors lack professionalism, frequent dual-relationships between supervisors and supervisees- favoritism, lack of objectivity with long-standing clients, lack of incorporation of protective equipment for staff, CPI, zero respect for work-life balance, unrealistic expectations of staff, toxic work culture, too many cooks in the kitchen, quick burnout.

Pros

I have worked at Melmark for 10+ years in various roles. Within all roles the support and training I have received has been unmatched. All individuals at all levels of the company are approachable and always looking out for the best interest for both the staff and students we serve. Upper management has worked hard over the years to ensure staff salaries at all levels are fair and extremely competitive, if not better than any other company in this field within this state. It is an absolute pleasure to work within this company and I encourage all of those interested in this field to consider working for a company that will help to shape your professional career and give you the best experience working with the most amazing students, staff and all levels of management.

Cons

Can be physically demanding but the training you receive leaves you well equipped to manage safely and effectively.

The individuals we serve have unique needs 24 hours a day, seven day s a week. Melmark is mission first for every individual, every day. Melmark's President and CEO has significantly improved pay rates for direct support professionals with a formal wage initiative across the organization. We will continue to balance industry standards with organizational costs to ensure Melmark staff are always among the most competitively paid in the field. Melmark’s Core Commitments are an employee and organizational standard for all of us in our workforce: Compassionate Care Melmark provides a culture of ongoing care, support and respect for the individuals we serve, their families and our staff. Integrity in Everything We Do Melmark consistently assesses the fidelity of organizational and staff systems to ensure educational and clinical standards are achieved and maintained. Evidence-Based Practices Melmark uses scientific evidence and performance data to inform all decision-making. Best Outcomes Melmark affects positive change in the quality of life of the individuals we serve by implementing data-driven trend analyses. In addition to these core commitments, Melmark’s workforce embraces a can-do attitude, which directly and positively impacts, not only the children and adults we serve, but our entire team of dedicated professionals as well. We are a mission-driven team, and together, we are committed to helping the individuals in all of our programs achieve success and to improving the lives of their families.
