Pros

You receive extra compensation on the weekends when working in the retail store.

Cons

Work ing on the weekends gets to be a drag, Work ing holidays gets to be a drag. When I was working there, they had really really tacky vests for uniforms. Working on the floor is somewhat labor intensive. Employees had to share break room with customers, which was annoying as customers didn't understand that you were on a break and continued to ask you questions. Was very difficult to get time off on weekends. When I put in my 2 weeks notice for leaving, I was demoted and received a pay cut.

Pros

Flexible for the part-time employee Additional weekend pay Yearly bonus if your store is profitable-based on time with the company up to 15% of your income Gain management experience with the manage by walking around philosophy

Cons

As a department manager you are completely married to the job. 52+ hours a week that were required by the store manager (per the contract signed we were committed to 48 hours)—every Friday you must work until noon on your weekend off and be back to work by noon on Monday. Mandatory every other weekend very long hours open to close (Saturday 7 a.m.-10 p.m. Sunday 8 a.m. – 7p.m.) Now this doesn't too bad however, it is retail and absolutely you need time to recharge the customer service battery!

Pros

There are a lot of fun people there. I really like working in my field. There are opportunities to move up if you want them. I have made a lot of friends from working there. You do not have to make work your life if you do not want to. At the end of the day you can just go home and not worry about it. This job will not be my career job, but for a part time job, it is not so bad. I can find help if I need to on certain tasks if I have questions.

Cons

Not everyone is friendly. There are some people in management that should not be there. There are people there that will argue everything with you, whether you make a positive or negative statement. I honestly feel like the majority of management belongs right where they are, and are very good at what they do. However, it's always those few people that ruin the experience of working somewhere for other people. Sometimes you can get blamed for things that are not your fault if you are not careful. Honestly though, there are not a whole lot of downsides to working there.
