Pros

When you sit in a meeting, you are guaranteed to be surrounded by smart, driven, caring, friendly and helpful people. Mercy Corps employs the best and it is great to be a part of something that is truly making a difference in the world. Transparency seems pretty good and they take good care of their employees.

Cons

It's a non-profit, so most people are doing the job of 1.5-2 people. Budgets are tight - but they should be at a responsible non-profit. Amazing benefits, though they drop the ball with maternity/paternity leave.

Great company culture

Pros

Mercy Corps' unique location in the lovely Portland, Oregon gives it a laid back atmosphere while still having passionate, hard-working folks who are creating positive change across our global portfolio. The company re-evaluates its direction each year, which is refreshing.

Cons

Moving between departments can be near impossible and be more based on personality and the sway your supervisor holds in the organization. The company claims to be family-friendly but our HR policies are anything but (though I hear they are changing for the good!).

Pros

Working with ethical, compassionate and hard-working people who have a strong commitment to being a force for good in the world.

Cons

Working with distributed teams around the world can be like herding cats at times.
