Disorganized, unwelcoming

Pros

Overall good and important mission. Some committed staff.

Cons

Culture is cliquish and unwelcoming, especially toward women of color. Onboarding is rushed, with little real support. Promotions are tied to favoritism and connections, not merit. Leadership is often absent yet rewarded. The Africa team leadership is not representative of the communities it serves. Recent layoffs were handled with almost no notice, leaving employees — including those with families — suddenly without income, benefits, or severance. The process showed a lack of care and transparency.
