Pros

Good benefits package. Salaries seem competitive. People: the teammates I work with on a daily basis are very talented and hard working. New owners and bringing in more experienced executives and managers.

Cons

The acquisition by private equity firm and subsequent forced merger in 2018 has completely changed the company. We used to have a great start-up mentality, where everyone just wanted to work hard to help deliver a great product and keep our clients happy. However, now that the new owners have installed their folks in management, they have put an emphasis on profit and performance metrics. Teammates who used to go out of their way to help others, go the extra mile for clients, or write extra high quality software just don’t do it anymore, because it is not visible on a performance metric the owners care about, and it will cost you in other metrics. This is also causing unhealthy office politics to increase in my observation. Overall, I feel their approach will produce success for the board, investors, and executives in the short term, but I feel like a lot of people on the ground at the company are the ones paying the price right now. Though maybe we had this coming, and this will weed out the people who cannot play ball in the new system.

Previously good company now Ruined

Pros

HQ is in a good location. Benefits are decent.

Cons

Has changed to a highly political culture. Owned by private equity now. Changed from flat management to top heavy with many more directors and C level. Open door process offers a place to speak your mind only - no changes come about. Work/life balance is no better than anywhere else now. What once was a nice company owned by a small group of individuals who were trying to build a great company, is now owned by private equity and similar to many other firms that aren't anything special. If you're job searching, I suggest you read the reviews dated 2018 and later. These are more representative of the current culture/company. In the summer of 2018, MeridianLink had its first ever layoff. Most of the people who were cut from HQ were folks that championed the positive corporate culture like improved onboarding processes, career development programs and classes, wellness and charitable programs/events, and others. There is still a minor focus on some of this, but on a much smaller scale and no one mainly dedicated to these types of programs (which are an expense to the company). For many companies, the keeper of the culture is HR. HR seems to have changed from positive, collaborative and supportive to highly political and dictatorial with poor communication. Emails go unanswered, and official emails/processes are rolled out with errors. I've seen myself and my colleagues treated disrespectfully at times. They still do some fun things to try to appear like the company they once were, but they're much changed.

Best Days Are Behind, Not Ahead

Pros

Great coworkers, decent benefits, monthly company lunches, some recent modernization

Cons

New management is driving the company into the ground and employees are finally starting to see right through the empty promise of better days to come. Expect limited salary increases, stunted upwards growth, very high turnover, endlessly-growing backlogs but no resources to conquer them, micromanagement from new bosses who know nothing about processes and products, zero regard to employees' mental health, and recurring "townhalls" to sweet talk employees out of unhappiness and into loyalty, although evidently nothing comes out of those meetings.
