Cons
The past is abysmal for what you have to do. You don't even GROSS $2,000, so after taxes and TRS, you're barely making minimum wage for maximum effort. You don't "get paid in the summer". They take money out of your checks to cover summer pay. It's your money that you've worked for, but if you quit before the summer, you DO NOT get any of that money that you paid in. Administration gives zero cares about any of your concerns and if you complain about your work environment, be prepared to be treated poorly. To Admin and everyone else, you are JUST a Para, even if they claim that you are "part of the family". Some administration won't give kids on their campus Behavior Intervention Plans even though they NEED them. It makes the campus look bad. It is definitely very "clicky". If you're in the group, you get recognition and get away with things that others don't. If you're not, you're invisible as far as your efforts go but any and all mistakes are highlighted and amplified. Benefits are ridiculously expensive. You're working to pay for insurance if you're a para. You can not earn comp time anymore. There are no more bonuses. They do not care if you have family obligations outside of work. They expect your job to come before your own children.
