Pros

I love the people I work with! The talent in this office is amazing! We all have a passion for what we do and the atmosphere is second to none. I don't know if we are still a start up, but we are a young company that is doing a lot of things right!

Cons

Some challenges would be the lack of positions in Tempe to be promoted into; once we complete some larger projects, doors will open up more.

Pros

First and foremost the people who work at Metromile are truly amazing. I can honestly say everyone gets along great. Personally I'm a bit on the shy side and everyone has done such a great job of making me feel included. There really is a group for everyone. All the standard startup perks: Snacks in the kitchen, unlimited vacation, flexible career growth, etc.

Cons

Work life balance can sometimes be hard to maintain with the Metromile's aggressive road map but the end result makes it worth it.

Pros

Great work environment - beautiful office, nice & energetic co-workers, nice location (SOMA). Great projects to work on - would never get bored for doing the same routine work because Metromile grows so fast that there are always new challenges. Great opportunities if you want to sharp your skills in IT x insurance to face future revolution.

Cons

There are some growing pain like all other startups: 1. We did lose several really talented and hard-working (in my mind, our best) engineers during the past year. I think it is mostly because they do much more work than the others (because they are so good) but not get recognized. I think this situation will be changed soon since the HR team is built now. 2. I accepted the job offer because I wanted to work with the team who interviewed me. But since Metromile is a small company, I sometimes need to work for other team. It's nice to have some exposure on other teams' projects, but usually I am not doing the fun part because I do not really have the experience in their field. Recently, the company recruited a lot of new hires in each team. This situation is definitely getting better.
