Decent benefits. Some great people who genuinely care. More or less stable job. You have to really try hard to get fired from here (I guess this is a pro if you're lazy).

Cons

Bad pay. Privileged cronies of current and past mayors sucking the life and resources out of the county. Nearly impossible to get promoted unless you know the right people. Pay structure promotes a culture of "just getting by' until people reach their 30 years for retirement. The hurdles one must clear to fire someone make it near impossible to get rid of dead weight.

Too many employees, including management, that just follow directions without thinking about whether what they are doing makes sense. Actions taken simply for political reasons.
