Pro's and Con's of working for the City of Miami, FL

Pros

It pays well for certain positions. You meet interesting people and get to make difference in the community. You are a part of a system that controls how government is applied to a diverse community.

Cons

The work atmosphere is highly toxic, new employees are treated with hostility. There is a lot of petty politics and you get promoted due to who you know, not the quality of work. Everyone I know complains about the aforementioned stat.ement

Pros

Vast majority of employees are fantastic. Definitely do not fit the "public employee" reputation. Beautiful office location and nice building.

Cons

Administration is too politically influenced, to the point of dysfunction.
