Pros

Generous discount Cool coworkers Lots to learn on the job

Cons

Terrible upper management staff outside of the front end Pay is not that good for the front end staff, and laughably low for front end leadership positions Constant mistreatment of the front end staff by customers which always results in the unruly customer being rewarded no matter how degrading or mean they are Complaints to general manager constantly deflected or he says “we’re working on it” with no updates. Understaffed constantly because the front end turnover rate is so high due to many things Long lines that are physically impossible to keep up with Being asked to meet impossible goals Front end is expected to forfeit rightfully earned protection plans, which is extra commission pay, for the sake of padding the sales teams numbers Front end leadership is expected to be on a register pretty much all throughout the day despite constantly needing to be places and do things Constantly asked by upper management to do things outside of your job requirements Work-life balance is very hard, especially if you have a family

Thank you for your feedback. We have made strides in the hiring process recently and should be close to being fully staffed on the front end. Hiring the right people and having the right number of people is very important to decreasing turnover, taking care of our customers and allowing associates to have a better work life balance. We have also looked at the market and made some other exciting changes too. I am sorry that you left without speaking to someone about your concerns, but we do wish you the very best and hope you find what you are looking for in your career. Sincerely, Cheryl T - HR Regional Manager.

Pros

Coworks and management make this a fun workplace. Everyone gets along great and produces great results. Management is very understanding about personal issues and will work with you on anything. They promote work/life balance.

Cons

HR is out of touch with reality. Everyone was set to get a raise and then last second, screwed over half the department. No matter what anybody says, they are completely wrong. Screwing over half the department is screwed up. Not only that, the ones who got a raise was a whopping $.50. That's right, busting our butts for that. Not really anything to the paycheck. This isn't close to a liveable wage but I guess they are worried about the 3 new stores opening. Well, we are going to lose over half the department because of this. Someone has turned a great place to work into nothing. Moral is low and trust between us and HR is completely gone. Management tries their hardest but the damage has been done. Want to make it right, give everyone close to $20 and watch what happens. Until then, you just lost people who cared and enjoyed their job, but you don't care.

That's terrific that you enjoy your work, co-workers and managers. We recently conducted a salary survey in your work area and set starting pay rates based on the survey. Our managers assess your performance and determine your pay increase based on that performance. We can't discuss individual raises but can confirm that raises were more than $.50 in some cases based on performance. Please discuss with your manager his criteria for evaluating performance and how you might be able to achieve your goals. Thank you for sharing and taking the opportunity to learn more about our compensation systems. Angie Miller VP-HR

Pros

The company offers a ton of opportunity to grow both personally, and career wise. Micro center is so far the best place i have worked.

Cons

With the pay being heavily based on commission, slow months can be hard to get through

Thank you so much for you 5 star Review! There is as you said, "a ton" of opportunity to grow and develop your career. We are glad you are enjoying it! While the slow months can be tough, the busy months can really pay off with the average wage in sales being $18 - $32 an hour depending on your department. I hope that we had a chance to meet and talk during my visit in June. Thank you for all you do! Cheryl T. Regional HR Manager.
