Pros

Flexible work hours and free samples. The people that work at the corporate office have been there forever and offer good product knowledge

Cons

Very unprofessional on many levels. From interoffice relationships to untrustworthy vendors. I saw it all there. The HR saw is the worst I've seen in the industry.

Pros

I have met some of the best and brightest working here, and formed friendships that will definitely outlast my stay in the company. Knowledgeable and caring people all around, and every one of them with really diverse goals. Really dedicated and willing to help even the most immature of associates, very personal-growth focused company.

Cons

Scheduling was like pulling teeth. Late-published schedules (like one-day notice for the next rotation of shifts) that seldom follow your availability really got in the way of wanting to continue working for the company. Serious favoritism abounds. The best schedules are taken and rarely ever given up, even though they are technically meant to rotate amongst all the open availability employees. There was very little in-branch growth, and high turnover meant the store was often divided in how it was meant to be run. Micromanagement was the norm, and as a result, it can get to be a highly stressful job. Much like nearly every other review, the outdated POS system needs to be overhauled. Also did not like that employees had to wear their full name on name tags, as that opened up lines of questioning from overly-forward customers that could easily have been avoided otherwise.

Pros

Micro Center seems to know where they are and where they need to go to continue to grow. That said, I think they will be stuck where they are for a while because they are so focused on profit margin that employees begin to resent their jobs and the quality of products on the shelves diminish. They do have great employees and great products but they are both becoming harder to come by.

Cons

Management does not connect to the team as much as we would like. The emphasis on profit and pure numbers with little care of growth of their employees is troubling. Trainings about products are required as a salesperson and, although it's great you're paid for this, it isn't a growth opportunity rather an opportunity for you to increase your sales and pad the pockets of the upper management.
