This February will mark my 7 year anniversary of being an employee of Miles Technologies. This is something I am very proud of, and I’d like to share my story with those of you hoping to find a great company to work for.
Prior to starting my life at Miles, I held several jobs, and each of them presented major obstacles to my career growth. The toughest obstacles to face were the significant lack of opportunity and the even more significant lack of respect. I’d like to think that being a woman had nothing to do with this, but I’d be lying to myself and to you if I said that were true.
I searched for an opportunity that would allow me to be treated as an equal and provide opportunities for my career growth. From day 1 with Miles, I knew I found a place that I wanted to be a part of and a place that wanted me to be a part of it. Even today, 7 years later, I’m still shocked by the kindness and intelligence of my coworkers. I spend my days with people that are dedicated, kind, and always willing to offer their time, help, and friendship.
Aside from the individual people I work with, it is ingrained in our culture to support each other both personally and professionally. Miles is flexible with your work hours so you can tend to family obligations or achieve personal goals outside of work. You want to learn something new? They cheer you on. You have a great idea that will help the company and/or its employees? Share it and, if it makes sense, they will implement it. It's important to mention that it doesn't matter who you are, where you come from, or what educational background you might have - Miles will offer the same amount of respect and opportunity to you as any other employee.
When I started at Miles, I was a part of a team that assisted the IT Department. Now, I’m the manager of that team! I've had opportunities at Miles that I may not have been given at another company. My manager of 7 years has instilled a strong work ethic in me. He listens to what I have to say and has even made departmental changes based on my very own ideas! I’m proud to work for a company that will give its employees the type of opportunities that I have been given and I look forward to my future at Miles.

All of our departments work well together professionally but getting to know each other on a personal level could be improved.
