Apply to Milliman - Chicago if you like toxic, outdated work environments
Pros
Coffee, benefits and easy commute
Cons
1) All the employees, outside of the interns and college graduate new hires, were old as dirt, yet I felt like I was transported back to high school with all the gossiping, backstabbing and cliques in this office. Standard for an office environment, sure, but it was on a whole other level in that place. Not only was childlike behavior consistently exhibited there, toxicity was prevalent. So prevalent, it led Milliman Seattle to hire an HR Rep for this office due to many issues and complaints that management often ignored. 2) The office and some of its practices were extremely archaic, and management had no desire to evolve. This only hinders reaching the highest possible level of efficiency and leads to frustration and exasperation - especially when suggestions for improvement are waved off by management. I felt that I didn't have a voice, and that was disheartening and very annoying. 3) The turnover rate is ridiculously high. It seemed that an employee was leaving every week or so. If that doesn't concern Milliman, then they have an even bigger issue - one that they probably are still sweeping under a rug like it's not happening and just finding new, unsuspecting people to refill cubicles. 4) Work-life balance wasn't the greatest. Milliman expects you to forget you have your own life and responsibilities and put them first instead. 5) Speaking of putting them first, good luck moving ahead in your career without kissing up to The Man. I, for one, refused. Favoritism is key here. 6) Communication from management to staff was lacking. At times, it was as if management didn't care to properly train or provide adequate materials for reference. You were basically expected to know soon as you stepped foot in the door.
